For those of you that follow Aiden Grimshaw's work you will remember the frantic searching for his twitter page late last year which had been removed entirely. I was crushed by the thought that we might not be graced by any new material from Aiden, and if you have listened to his first album 'Misty Eye' you'd know how much of an incredible shame that would be. However I can now proudly present to you Aiden, he has returned to twitter without the last name but (praise the lord) new material. His latest EP simply titled 'Aiden' consists of four tracks 'Satisfy Me ft. Thaddaeus Tribbet', 'The Cleaner', 'Fire and Ice' and 'Better Man' all written with the help of Dimitri Tikovoi - who has worked with the likes of Charli XCX and Nicola Roberts. I cannot stress enough how stupidly brilliant each song is, each one a brilliant progression from Misty Eye (which was brilliant itself) showcasing a more mature sound. Each song glued together with a throbbing electro-pop beat, almost demanding your ears' attention. For me it feels like Aiden is truly making the music he wants to make, like he has finally properly discovered his musical identity which he can now grow into fully.
For me the highlight of the EP is 'The Cleaner' the chorus is literally the catchiest thing I have heard in such a long time, its light up beat sound makes for a very easy listen. Definitely something that will leave you hitting the replay button. The other stand out is 'Better Man' I have to say I was completely surprised by this song, simply by the fact that it's a rough and ready stomping club banger. If this was to receive the airplay it deserves it would be a sure hit, yet it still has Aiden's name all over it. Its an Aiden Grimshaw track, and a brilliant one at that.
